More Paladin Musings

Faith mentioned something to me yesterday that I’m not sure is a good or bad thing, at least not until I test it. Holy Paladins are probably the least squishy healer out there just because they have: plate armor; shields; a tank-based sub-spec. Even completely unbuffed my armor can mitigate 60% of all incoming physical damage, avoid 14% of it through defenses and cast a variety of bubbles on myself to reduce or entirely mitigate anything left. The only place they seem to fall down is magic damage, and being a Blood Elf, I have a 2% gain over any other Alliance Paladins right off the bat.

But I won’t ramble too much about defense, I’m a healer, not a tank. What I will talk about though, is the Divine Sacrifice Paladin, a Paladin who ventures 17 points into the Protection Tree to pick up Divine Sacrifice (redirect 30% of all damage to the party onto the Paladin) and Divine Guardian (provides a 20% shield wall to all raid members for 6 seconds). So you’re giving a 50% reduction to your whole party (usually all healers together, though as a Paladin you should probably be in with the tanks for this very ability) and a 20%  reduction to the whole raid. If you’re expecting a 10k*25 hit on your group, this ability alone can mitigate 50k damage in a single GCD. Of course, you’ll also be taking 8k+(30% of 8k * 4)22.4k damage from the AoE itself plus the redirects, so this skill is pretty much bound to Divine Protection or Divine Shield, lest you get yourself deaded. However, in order to pick up Divine Guardian, you’re going to need 3 points in Improved Righteous Fury (6% damage reduction for all incoming damage), so that figure will shrink once again, and then, right at the bottom of the list on the RNG you could even go so far as to pick up Blessed Life for a potential (10% chance) of reducing the damage of a single hit (though each hit is rolled separately, so you might get all or you might get none!) by 50%!

So musing rambles asides, I was seriously looking at the idea of getting Blessed Life for the 10% chance of a half damage hit. In places like ICC where raid damage is usually significant I can see this being quite a good thing to take, the only problem is I need to pull 3 points from somewhere else. Oh, I know, from the Protection tree.

Why am I so anal on being a good damage sponge, anyway? Well, with Mist being heavy on Resto Shamans, I’m going to almost always be able to expect a Mana Spring totem down, and by default all Resto Shamans (should) have the improved version of this, providing it with a further 20% extra healing which is the same as our Improved Blessing of Wisdom. Because the Shaman talent is mandatory, and our talent is only optional, I can afford to skip on this talent for any raid that has a Resto Shaman in it. So now I have two spare points, both of which I point into the next talent over, Blessed Hands. Now I know it’s not my job to watch the threat of DPS, but giving a DPS of my choice a 40% threat reduction/removal over 10 seconds (probably Runningwater and his Swipe happy playstyle) is rather nice, but more importantly, being able to give a tank a 40% shield wall for as long as it takes them to absorb 30k damage on a single GCD seems unfoundedly useful. Maybe. On the other hand, because this is always capped at 30k damage (my ICC25 buffed HP as the caster), I can’t help but wonder if it’d be better to absorb that 30k over a long (untalented) or short (talented) period of time. A lot of care has to be taken here too, because a tank taking two big hits in a row could leave me with half of my HP wiped out, which is where things like Divine Protection and Improved Righteous Fury come in.

Holy Paladins are tank healers, yes, but that’s only one of their two niches. Their other niche is raid utility. We have Blessings, we have Hands, we have Aura Mastery, a ton of raid-wide skills that might make or break a hard mode, and I can’t help but think that any Holy Paladin who puts their spare 17-20 points into Retribution probably have a lot to answer for in terms of why they’re being lazy and aiming to crit high for the sake of the meters than make the life of the other 24 players that little bit less taxing. The reason I’m going for these changes is because I’m pulling talent points out of places that they were otherwise wasted. Improved Blessing of Wisdom? Same as the mandatory Shaman talent in the Restoration tree. Improved Devotion Aura? Same as the mandatory talent in the Protection tree for tanks and the Restoration tree for Druids. A lot of the talents in my build can be done the same or better by other players, which means that rather than create duplicate effects, I might as well go for something unique that no other player or class can do, like my 20% raid-wide shield wall or my 40% single target sacrifices.

My Druid is finally 80, I have to say that now I’m not suffering from “OOMitis” and “tooscaredtocastStarfallbecausealltankssuckitis” I feel a lot happier with playing Boomkin, the only thing I’m struggling with is the whole Eclipse mechanic, or more specifically, how to get the ball rolling the very first proc. It seems like a very luck based class, if I don’t crit then I don’t win, effectively. I’m going to main spec as Resto, but I’m running instances as Boomkin because it’s: a) more fun; b) easier to slack since a bad DPS isn’t going to let down the group with just “low numbers”.

I’ve given up full time raiding again, because I don’t have the time or commitment, because this is the seventh month that Icecrown Citadel has been out and because there’s nothing new at all. There’s only so many times I can hear “BOOOOOOOOOONESTOOOOOOOOOORM” or the likes from some of the awfully voice acted bosses there and even the thought of downing the Lich King (which we haven’t, even with a 25% buff, though I don’t think we’ve had a raid since it came out due to lack of attendance) isn’t enough to inspire me. I’m going to go back to my happy go lucky lifestyle of dipping into PuGs when I feel like it, and not when the guild has a slot open. I’ll probably stick to ten mans for a bit, just to find my Resto feet, since I’m still not comfortable with Druid healing (how hard can spamming Rejuve be?) and go from there. Hopefully Cataclysm is closer than we think and we can ditch ICC for a considerable amount of time more (at least until Bolvar makes an uninspired return a la cliche style).

I’m going to try find one of those scrubby little casual guilds on my Druid, because I have four characters in Wrath of Wisdom and sometimes I fancy a change. It’ll also give me less reason to raid, or if I do, the knowledge that raids are probably only going to last a couple of hours at most, rather than a three hour slog of what feels more like a job than a hobby.

The only thing I’m not looking forward to now is the emblem grind to get another two specs geared up. Oh. Joy.

It’s Me or the Dog

So I was reading what might well have been a troll having fun on the MMO-Champion forums, yet I couldn’t help but think of how serious an issue something like this might actually be. Basically, the wife wanted the husband to quit WoW because entertainment is insignificant therefore shouldn’t cost money. The husband said he wouldn’t give up his subscription. The wife drove off in her car and hasn’t returned yet.

Now it feels like a bit of a two-sided consideration, really. My first assumption was that the wife was simply being overbearing, not allowing her husband to have any fun that costs money, and that she needed to back off a bit and let him have his alone time. My second assumption, however, countered that by saying that perhaps he plays too much, and she feels that this is the only way she’ll get his attention away from what is internet crack, or perhaps she can’t afford the $15 a month subscription fee and needs to start cutting corners, and is willing to gamble her whole marriage on those $15 instead. Which brings me back to my first assumption, she’s a loon.

Now I’m trying not to dip too deep into uncharted territory, I don’t have a wife (thank god) but I do have a partner, and I have to wonder whether you’d give up a video game for a real person. Anybody who asks you to forsake a couple of hours a day and $15 a month for no logical reason probably isn’t the most sane person in the world, and you have to consider if there are deeper issues in a relationship where this happens. Perhaps something so big is bubbling away under her skin that even the smallest of things snap, and it just happened to be Warcraft in the firing line. Perhaps the partner would have to give up pizza instead, if she caught him eating that, or give up watching TV, if she caught him doing that.

I don’t think I’d ever give up WoW unless there was a bloody good reason. That’s not to say it’s more important than a partner, but it’s more important than the principle of a partnership. Now, if I were playing for nine hours a day and turning into a slob on the sofa with no job and no life and no friends because of it, then sure I could understand the idea of an ultimatum, but if it is as I am now, where I log in and do my daily and perhaps a couple of randoms on my Druid (which takes no more than a couple of hours collectively), then I’d have to seriously consider whether having aspects of my life that have very few detrimental effects cut out against my will would be a thing I could put up with. It’s a slippery slope from there, soon you’ll be giving up chocolate, pizza, MSN, XBox, sex, the rights to sleep in the same bed, the rights to even speak, and whatever else happens then (divorceeeeeeeeeeeee).

Anyway, that’s by the by and I’m done with my little rhetoric. On a more WoW related note, I have to say that I’m taking time out from raiding (again, I know I do this far too often but I like my breaks!) and I’m loving it. I’m taking time out for two reasons, partly because I have a few real life things on my mind (which I’ve sorted now, so I really should go back to raiding again) and partly because I don’t really enjoy spending excessive amounts of time in the same raid as our new, under-qualified and overly vocal Holy Priests, who’s left all but a good impression on me. I log in to play my Druid, and do my Priest’s daily, but that’s really it. All of this Cataclysm news seems over-hyped too, I must be the only one thinking “oh god, new expansion, time to do this shit all over again”.

Rogue Agent

So I got my Rogue to 60, little Sincraft is growing up fast. He’s no longer my bank alt, that responsibility has been given to Shiftstorm, my forgotten and unloved Druid. Seriously what’s with Druids? I thought they’d be one of the classes I’d love but they just don’t work at all. Feral of both sorts is just bland, Buttkin is horrifyingly dull, and Resto is so undeniably faceroll (REJUVEREJUVEREJUVEWILDGROWTHOSHI-SWIFTMEND) that I can’t help but feel like there’s barely any skill involved at all. Anyway, back on track, Rogue is proving surprisingly fun to be honest, it beats Feral Druid by a long shot and although it will never become my main (I love healing too much), it seems like something I’ll put some time into. That said, I felt the same about Shadowgrasp, Totemshock and Squiggle, and all of them are sitting on the bench now, so we’ll see where he goes.

I can’t help but jizz every time I use Killing Spree with Blade Flurry, just seeing a stream of numbers hurled across my screen gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside, the same feeling I get when I eat babies with mint sauce, or throw badgers into cement mixers.

Short post, Wrath of Wisdom finally got to Lich King, the one night I wasn’t there too. Naytha apparently went Disc, not sure how that went given that Lhuranan is usually a bit cautious about healers changing specs, but they got Sindragosa down before the 15% so it’s all good.

20% buff starts tomorrow, so we should have no excuse not to have it down within the next two or three weeks, especially if we extend the lockout. That said, I’m not a huge fan of extends but in this case I’ll let it slide, we really want this kill. We really need this kill. I’m just worried that people might get ahead of themselves and think that we’re cut out for Heroic just because we down him once. My opinion? We should have him set to at least “on farm” (as in, five wipes or less) before we start playing with the big boys. We definitely need to gear up the huge influx of trialists we’ve got in the guild anyway, I’m not sure 232 gear is viable for ICC Heroic.

So I gave my Paladin a turn at tanking today, it was my first raid and there were only nine of us in it so it was a bit off-balance right from the off. It was ToC10 with me and some Wrath of Wisdom guildmates, just a regular run to help gear up and give me some experience and while I feel I got the latter, I couldn’t help but feel I probably made more mistakes than I really should have done.

Got the Beasts down with no problems, one wipe because the other tank went down because I was a bit sluggish on the taunting for Impales, but the second attempt went much better, including the one fight I was actually worried about the most, having to tank Acidmaw.

Jaraxxas went down fine, the Infernals were a little unusual because they’d float around despite me having agro, but I’ve seen that happen in every ToC run I’d been on so I knew it wasn’t really my fault.

Faction Champions scared me quite a bit, actually. I had to tank the Death Knight, but what I didn’t know was that keeping agro on him 100% of the time would have been near impossible, since Taunts eventually wore off and he’d reset his agro table in a screwy way for no reason constantly. Eventually worked into a Taunt-Stun rotation depending on Diminishing Returns, and he didn’t cause much more trouble. Got it down after four wipes, awkward but we were only nine so better than I’d hoped.

I made a bit of a fart on the twins, primarily losing agro in the first few seconds trying to move and shoot. Tanking is fine, if I’m standing still, I can hold agro even over somebody like Njev, who’s an off-the-wall Arcane Mage, but this was the first time I’d been told to move and shoot so when I lost it and it killed a ranged, being yelled at was probably well deserved.

We got Anub down easily, he’s a stupidly boring boss though, a couple of adds here, a bit of AoE there, one of the adds submerged on our second attempt (our first was just a wipefest because I managed to let an add submerge over what I thought was ice, but apparently it wasn’t) but that was only because there was no frost at all, not because I was slacking (again).

All in all, for a tank being under the defense and hit cap with blue items to boot, I don’t think it went awfully, obviously I made stupid mistakes that I shouldn’t have done and it’s perhaps reminded me that I need a bit more experience in tanking overall before I go jumping into serious stuff like ICC. A couple more ToC runs and I’ll have it sorted out.

Naturally though, I won’t be playing WoW for quite some time anyway, since my computer has finally decided to wave the white flag of surrender. It’s been having issues ever since I bought it, crashing a couple of times a day (sometimes in raids, which was annoying) and generally just freezing for a few seconds every hour or so, but I lived through it until it eventually gave up living itself. I get my next set of Student Loans through on the 19th April (my birthday too, convenient or what) so I’ll be buying a huge RAM update for it, since running Vista x64 on 2GB of RAM is almost suicide, and hoping that’ll fix the problem (all of the blue screen errors I’ve got seem to point towards the RAM or paging file being screwy). Until then I’ve handed in my temporary notice with Wrath, I hope they’ll understand but if they don’t, that’s probably all I deserve anyway.

What I worry about is that Esmi seems to have this wonderful impression of me, going so far as to suggest that I’d make a good class leader (were I not so new, at least), but I don’t feel the same way. Perhaps I just need to rethink my gaming, but my confidence and abilities seem to have flatlined recently. Perhaps it’s just a subconscious state of mind, a person doesn’t just turn bad overnight and it has been quite distracting with Veir here, and more distracting knowing that I have exams and stuff in the near future too. The couple of weeks I’ll be forced away from WoW for might actually do me good, especially if it means I come back refreshed and ready to do my best (not that I don’t try, but lately my best seems lacking).

I’m thinking about a change of direction soon. Cataclysm is only a few months away (apparently) and the time between now and then is ample enough to give me the opportunity to pick up a new class and see if I still feel like playing Shaman all the way through Cataclysm too. I sometimes feel that raid guilds expect too much from a person, and that a lack of flexibility is not always the best option. Maybe it’s just me. Some days I love my Shaman, it makes me happy, the healer is fluid, it has a playstyle I enjoy, it has a reasonable level of responsibility tied to it,everything I like about the game. Some days I just want to burn it and go play my Priest or my Druid, because the more relaxed style of HoT spamming is more toward what I enjoy (even if it does make me a button mashing retard).

If I pick a new class for Catacylsm then it’ll likely be Druid or Priest. The new Boomkin changes look awesome and I definitely want to hold onto my healing, because despite how I feel right now I can heal and I’m a bloody good healer if I’m clearcast about it. Priest perhaps because I’m just comfortable with it, though the LIFE GRIP LOLOL changes just look like another way of spooning more responsibility on the healers and less on the RETARDSTANDINFIRE DPS. I swear, the first person that blames me for not Life Gripping them out of Fire will have me picking up Druidry again.

I like having a comfortable weight on my shoulders, not too little (DPS lol?) and not too much (tanking oh god), healing seems quite middle ground and it’s just the type of class I play in every game I play, from Muse in ROSE Online, to High Priest in Ragnarok Online, to Bishop in Rappelz to Priest/Shaman/Druid/Paladin in WoW.

Really though, every class should have a balanced responsibility, that’s how the game should work. The tanks shouldn’t be the ones always needing to do “more threat!”, the DPS should be the ones who could do “a little less” or “manage their threat reductions better”. Likewise, DPS should always “carry potions” and “not stand in burny shit”, but instead it’s blamed on the healers if one of them dies from too much damage. This sort of imbalance isn’t helped by Blizzard doing things like ‘gear check’ bosses (Festergut) or by not giving classes reasonable tools for PvE survival (Fury Warriors and threat dumps have apparently never met). I never played Vanilla or TBC but some aspects of them seemed so much better, and a mix of what we have now and what we had before would be beautiful. Cataclysm will tell, I guess.

Dreamwalking

This is the third week our guild has been working on Valithria 25, and in my opinion the healing is going fine, a few tweaks to make across the board but otherwise fine. We’ve downed her both weeks previously, though both weeks took a good ten or so wipes to actually get going, and both successful attempts were made at the 21:50 mark when the raid had resolved to “one more try then we call it for the night”.

The good news is, I won a relatively nice helmet for myself, and by relatively nice I mean ‘it suits me perfectly since I’m nearly Haste soft-capped, so a change to crit is just a little extra push’. The bad news is that we don’t really have her on farm and in order for us to heal her to full, we all have to give up 100g to the wonderful repair guy before he bribes enough mobs to let us win easily.

Today’s raid came with a gut wrenching shock. Esmi was on Standby. Esmi is our healing leader and one of the best healers we have (along with Lhuranan and Molotov), and with a lack of Molotov also, we were two good healers down. In their place, we had a fresh faced Druid who’d recently migrated from my previous guild, and a fresh faced Holy Priest who’d been here once before, but had a little trouble ‘staying alive’. The other healers were me, Lhuranan, Drusskand (Boomkin-turned-Resto Druid) and Edicia. Lhuranan took over healing priorities today, not that they were needed for the most part, but he did a good job nonetheless. We also had our Elemental Shaman, Vorm, go Resto after a handful of wipes because the healers outside were seemingly struggling to keep up the other 19 non-portaling people.

In regards to portals, I’m going to make a bold statement which isn’t backed by empirical evidence, but instead nurtured by gossip, rumors and general experience. Personally, I would love a second opinion on the matter, but I’m going to say it anyway. Druids don’t make perfect tank healers. Nor do Shamans. The highest throughput class right now for tank healing is a Paladin, which we only have one of.

Now, our portal hopping crew usually consists of me, Lhuranan, Molotov/Drusskand and Edicia. Today, Lhuranan stayed outside to raid heal since the newbies would be less hard-pressed by portal hopping, meaning that our usual lineup of two Shamans, a Druid and a Paladin became one Shaman, two Druids and a Paladin. Not the best raid makeup, at least in single target EHPS.

The new Druid did amazingly well for a first try, she picked up a good stack count and didn’t miss any portals, and ended up leveling with Drusskand for healing, who were a shade below Edicia, who was a fair bit behind me. Our Holy Priest and Lhuranan did a wonderful job outside keeping everybody up, but there were a few DPS problems that I won’t really run into, let’s just leave it with two words: Blazing Skeletons. The tanking wasn’t too bad, but we kept losing tanks randomly even when we had three, and mobs would sometimes get loose and gank a healer, so definite room for improvement there. What with the new Icy Touch buff, it might not be a bad idea to have a Death Knight tank here, from the things I’ve read about the buff, pulling agro off of an Icy Touched mob is near impossible now.

There are three things we (as the healing group) need to do to be the best of the best at this fight:

1) A better healing lineup: two Druids isn’t cutting it, they should be on the raid and we should have another Holy Paladin portal hopping with our existing Paladin and two Shamans.
2) Healers need to be aware of their best EHPS single target rotation: ElitistJerks has a million and one spreadsheets that will inform you of your best outputs, for instance a Shaman’s best output is Riptide -> Healing Wave -> Healing Wave -> Healing Wave -> Repeat, but what about a Holy Paladin or Resto Druid? Look these things up and improve. On top of that, we need to be learning how best to time our Cooldowns to coincide with things like Heroism, that includes the outside Priest using Guardian Spirit a little more often on Valithria if it’s not been wasted on another raider. It finally means things like Wild Magic or Speed potions, that extra throughput along with your Cooldowns and Heroism is going to put you at the cutting edge of your abilities.
3) Edicia needs to man the fuck up and heal properly: I spent my entire day today with Edicia on focus, looking at specific buffs and their uptimes, and it was dreadful. Wrath of Wisdom is cursed in that we don’t have a Paladin leader, and nobody asides me has a significant amount of Holy Paladin experience, so I’m the only person who can ‘improve him’. Last week I got Esmi to persuade him to swap out his old Glyph set for Glyph of Light (5% healz yeahhh), but even with that he’s still not performing. One of his best throughput buffs, Judgements of the Just, provides him with 15% Spell Haste for a whole minute, and yet the uptime on it is awful, for all of our attempts he’d use it for the pull and then forget it exists. No wonder he’s underperforming when he’s losing 15% of his throughput right there.

I spent a good few minutes talking to our raid leader for the day, Gnoor (Fatty, Gnoob, whatever you want to call him), and I’m not the only one who wants to throttle Edicia. The problem is all he’s told me to do is ‘speak to Esmi’. Well Esmi has already admitted she’s not an authority on Holy Paladins, so what am I supposed to say? I’m aware that explaining the basics is beautifully easy for somebody with her level of comprehension, but explaining to somebody like Edicia is not going to be quite as easy. I stand by what I said in a previous post, it’s not the class that’s causing the fault, because even if the class had every potential available unlocked, there’d still be a dribbling idiot sitting behind the monitor mashing his happy little face into his happy little keyboard and hoping he wins. I just hope that we get a new Holy Paladin raider soon so we can ditch him entirely, before one of us ends up saying something we regret.

Class Roles

The role check is there in LFG so that, if you can fill a particular role for an instance, you queue as it. Tanks call mobs pussies and keep their aggression, DPS take them hard from behind, and Healers mop up the mess left afterwards. Simple.

Why then, is the transition to Outlands so hard to manage? I’m a Druid, and yes I’m only level 57 but I’ve cleared Hellfire Ramparts more times than I care to remember as a tank, DPS and healer across various classes. Just an hour ago I had a highly successful run with a Feral Druid tanking, nobody died, I had to use Tranquility a couple of times to mop up some tricky pulls but overall it was a complete success. This was in my Azeroth gear, with no Elixirs or even mana drinks, the healing was just that smooth.

I queue for my second group, I want to get to 60-ish just running Ramps, it’ll gear me up amazingly well for questing and it means I’ll have a bit of a head start on Hellfire Peninsula (meaning I can do less of shitty Nagrand for the sixth time in a year), and bing, group pops up in less than a minute.

Level 58 Protection Warrior with 4k HP, Azeroth geared also. Fair enough to him, I’m in my Azeroth gear and he might surprise me. Then again, he might not. Level 62 Death Knight, Unholy specced. Level 64 Rogue, no idea what the spec was. Level 60 Elemental Shaman rocking the beautiful Wrath Totem.

It becomes immediately clear on the first pull of two plus patrol that the Warrior isn’t going to be able to hold agro over the Shaman or the Death Knight. No matter, we carry on, no deaths and no Tranquilities blown yet, so we might be okay. We get to the pack of three casters on the first corridor, and the Death Knight’s pet manages to pull two additional packs. Tranquility number one, no matter because we wiped all the same, even with two HoTs on every person and a massive Tranquility raining from the sky. The Death Knight asks if he can tank instead, and the Warrior agrees. Given that the Death Knight has been getting agro for quite a lot of the instance (or rather, as much as we’d run which was only five or six pulls), I assumed it wouldn’t be too much of a problem.

First pull, he’s in Blood Presence. I call him out on it, he says “I can tank in any presence”, then immediate drops dead despite my best heals. The Warrior picks up, we clear it fine apart from the single death. Ressed up, he switches to Frost and doesn’t say anything more, I presume out of shame but probably not. At this point I’d like to note that Death Grip is not a toy. If you want to use it, then use it properly! Which in this case it wasn’t. He death grips melee mobs, leaving casters at the back with no threat on them ready to pick on me the second a HoT lands. Why would you do that? Surely it would make more sense to Grip the caster if you need to and then have the melee come to you, that way they’re all in range and the poor Druid won’t be pulling with a single Rejuvination.

We get the first boss down with relative ease, and pull everything up to the courtyard on the upper level, where the tricky pulls are because of the patrols that run around in the three groups. Bam, immediately he aggros multiple packs because he fails at timing his Death Grip. We manage to get most of them down, I blow another Tranquility, then a pack rears up behind from one of the fleeing patrols, wipes me down (if I could have Shadowmelded I would have, but it’s never off CD because of the amount of times I’ve ripped agro on casters because the tank hasn’t even dumped a DoT on them), and proceeds to kill off the rest of the group.

On top of that whole shitty tank ordeal, the Rogue that was the highest level in the group was pulling a whopping 200 DPS. I called him out in chat, and in whisper, I even went so far as to inspect him, I have no idea what the fuck he was doing but it wasn’t DPSing. I wonder if it was just some poor guy with only one arm trying to use his mouse with his tongue and his keyboard with his foot so he can use his only free arm to masturbate with.

I’m aware that perhaps I’m a little low to be running Ramps, my heals are underwhelming but my Healing Touch can top up a 4k tank right away, my Regrowth hits for 2k immediate and my HoTs tick at 300-400 every 3 seconds, there’s absolutely no reason you should be able to take more damage than that unless you’re retarded. Oh wait.

Frost Presence doesn’t make you a tank in the same way that a Feral Druid in healing gear doesn’t make a good healer. Mix and match might have worked in the Vanilla dungeons you ran recently, where the mobs only hit for 6 damage and then apologised before bandaging you up, but this is big boy town. If you don’t have a tank spec with your mitigation talents and reasonable threat generation, then don’t come to the table and pretend you’re a tank.

People will never learn. It gets better with Wrath, I’ve found, but only just.
